Summary of the issues discussed:

Helen Erswell – Public Health Wales, gave an update on the Statutory levy - 50% to Treatment Services, 20% to research UKRI and 30% to Prevention. £110million in total. There is no NHS clinic in Wales at the moment, a pathway group is to be set up April 2025. No clarification on how much of the levy will come into Wales. Welsh Government will hold the money for Treatment. Focus on Prevention – currently no provider has been named as the prevention commissioner. Action Points include inviting Sarah Murphy MS to the next meeting, crafting a cross party letter to the CS for Health, crafting a proposal to the Business Committee for a members’ debate or an opposition debate on Gambling Harms, writing to the chair of the Sports Committee.

Summary of the issues discussed:

ARA gave an update on their early integration with NHSE. Helen Erswell gave an update in regard to the Statutory Levy; Treatment and prevention to sit with NHSE & PHW. Commission a pathway for the whole of Wales. Identify what services are needed and then identify Stakeholder groups. Integration between Scotland, England and Wales. DCMS – Waiting for regulation on where the money can be spent. Actions taken to write a letter to the chair of the health boards to create a link in for Adferiad and ARA, attend GambleAware event in the Senedd with GambleAware 30th April 2025, pledge of the APPG on Gambling to be shared from Ffion, offer introduction to the CPG armed forces group.

Summary of the issues discussed:

Presentation by Dr Jamie Torrence which included some key points. Loophole exploitation and decoy brands in televised sports - Bewtin360.tv Leovegas.news Links back to the gambling website. Free offers and the miscomprehension, they often come with complicated conditions. From December 2025, the Gambling commission new regulations around predatory conditions. Points to consider: What can the Welsh Gov do in terms of advertising and a watershed ban. Impact on children and young people. Advertising on sports events. Contact local authorities in regard to the banning of advertising in bus shelters. Support to Adferiad and ARA and the location of a specific centre in Wales for people experiencing Gambling Harms. Actions - Motion for a debate in the Senedd. Preamble to be put together with key points and put to the group. Supporting letters for Dr Jamie Torrence. Link in with Bristol Council who have banned advertising in bus stops.

Proposal on Gambling Motion, sent over to attendees. – open for discussion/feedback. Only one response back from the Swansea Health board. Jane to re-write another letter to CEO. Extend invite to new members – Charlotte Thomas. Jane to write to British heart foundation, for a meeting to discuss sponsorship of CPR training.
